Invisible Plastics

Final Year Project
Software: Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe After Effects (please note that YouTube shifted the colours compared to originals)

My final year project is titled Invisible Plastics. With this project I am aiming to create an awareness campaign based around less visible and known plastic issues such as microplastics and toxins.
The main part of the campaign is based around short videos that explain inidividual and specific issues related to plastics, but in a direct and simple way. The tone and style of the animation is quite light, in order to involve the viewers, rather than scare them off with “ugly” images and facts.
I have managed to create two videos which expose the microplastics going up the food chain, all the way to us and the way microfibres are released during laundry from synthtetic clothes.

“Phenomenal, eerily beautiful for something so toxic which was perfect for this; like the beautiful scenery surrounding Chernobyl or the lethal but pretty blue-ringed octopus.”

“Loving the bright colours, I think it helps to catch the audience’s attention.”

“I love how simple it looks. It makes a complicated and political subject easy to digest and approachable.”

“The visual style is brightly colored and appeals to myself as well as the younger people in our house.”

The second part of the campaign is formed by mock ups of possible merchandise (such as tote bags and water bottle) and printed material (such as posters and postcards).
Examples of this can be seen below.

Below you can see some images of stages I went through in order to create the videos and the mock ups.
